"Social Development" Organizes Training Courses to Prepare for the Holy Month

Represented by the Department of Family Affairs, the Ministry of Social Development and Family participated in the "Spices Preparation" workshop held at the Al-Majd Girls' Centre in North City. This workshop aimed to support spices of national products, which are the key elements that distinguish Qatari food from others. It also touched on how to prepare different types of spices and learn about them separately.

This participation is at the Ministry's initiative to continue supporting the spices of national projects. These projects started to flourish economically, coinciding with the approaching month of Ramadan. Mrs. Fatima Al-Kaabi, a social program expert in the Department of Family Affairs, said: "This workshop came within a series of workshops to be carried out with the Al-Majd Girls Centre. It aimed to enable national entrepreneurs to benefit from their skills and experiences. Thus, it provided trainees with the opportunity to acquire these skills."

The "Spices Preparation" workshop, presented by Mrs. Zamla Maraa, introduces how to prepare different types of spices and their ingredients, coinciding with the approaching of Ramadan. It also contributed to the promotion of productive projects, as the public is introduced to the owners of productive projects closely through the establishment of these workshops to increase the demand for these projects.

The trainees praised the great role played by the Ministry of Social Development in supporting owners of productive projects. Mrs. Zamla emphasized the importance of organizing training workshops to exchange experiences among the trainees and encourage them to engage in national production. She added that this workshop is the beginning of preparations for the holy month, in which Qatari spices are of great importance in preparing local foods.

In cooperation with the Center for Empowerment and Care of the Elderly (Ehsan), the Ministry organized a training workshop on how to decorate Garangao bags for students of Kindergarten and Al-Nahda Elementary School for Girls and elderly members of the Ehsan Center. This cooperation came to integrate the children and the elderly in a joint activity to prepare for Ramadan. It also aimed to train the children and the elderly from Ehsan Center’s affiliates on how to decorate Garangao bags. This workshop was presented by Mrs. Laila Ahmed Al-Hammadi, a trainer at the Ministry. These projects participated in the live cooking of Qatari food during the workshop presented to the audience of children and the elderly.

Mrs. Fatima Al-Nuaimi, Assistant Director of the Family Affairs Department, said: “The Ministry of Social Development and Family is interested in establishing this cooperation because of the many benefits it has for society by integrating children with the elderly members of the Center. This creates an atmosphere of joy, familiarity, and cooperation between them by taking advantage of the Experiences of the elderly and instilling the values of their respect and appreciation in the hearts of the young.

This workshop comes to activate the competence of the Family Affairs Department in implementing projects and programs to develop the cultural, educational, and recreational creativity of children and youth, in coordination with the relevant governmental and non-governmental agencies. Moreover, it also aims to propose and implement national strategies, plans, policies, and programs related to the elderly.
