Ministry of Social Development and Family launches the “Family of the Match” competition in celebration of Arab Family Day
In collaboration with the Local Organizing Committee for the FIFA Arab Cup Qatar 2025, the Ministry of Social Development and Family has launched the “Family of the Match” initiative, coinciding with Arab Family Day. The initiative aims to highlight the role of the family in strengthening positive values, encouraging healthy interaction among its members, and promoting social cohesion.
The competition encourages families to attend matches together, spend quality time, and showcase the values of unity, respect, and collective support—reflecting the true spirit of cohesive family life in the Arab world.
The initiative also provides families with a creative space to express themselves through organized group activities that enhance teamwork, positivity, and shared joy inside the stadiums. Each match becomes an opportunity for families to experience memorable moments filled with excitement and togetherness, mirroring the importance of communication and family bonding within major sporting events.
Nouf Al-Abdullah, Assistant Director of the Family Development Department at the Ministry, explained that the “Family of the Match” competition celebrates special family moments during the FIFA Arab Cup Qatar 2025. A full team monitors these moments inside the stadiums to select the winning families, who will later be honored during the tournament for their positive contributions and active participation.
She added that this initiative aligns with the Ministry’s efforts to promote family values and enhance community participation through sports. The competition aims to encourage families to attend matches, support their teams, and contribute to a positive atmosphere during the tournament.
The Ministry also urged families to continue attending and participating in matchday activities to strengthen family bonds and create meaningful shared experiences. These moments reflect the vital role of social cohesion and positive interaction within Arab families during major cultural and sporting events.
The FIFA Arab Cup Qatar 2025 will be held from December 11 to December 18 across six stadiums that previously hosted historic matches during the FIFA World Cup Qatar 2022™. These include Al-Bayt Stadium, Khalifa International Stadium, Ahmad bin Ali Stadium, Education City Stadium, Stadium 974, and Lusail Stadium, where the final match will take place on December 18.
The tournament will also feature a fan-friendly celebration platform showcasing the rich culture of the host nation. Visitors will enjoy various cultural, artistic, and entertainment activities held in fan zones around the stadiums throughout the championship.
