MSDF Organizes Specialized Training Course for Employees

The Ministry of Social Development and Family (MSDF), represented by the Human Resources Department—Training and Administrative Development Section—organized a training course for employees titled "Preparation of Balance of Payments Statistics and Reports" in cooperation with the Qatar Association of Certified Public Accountants. The course was held from April 4 to 9 at the Ministry's headquarters in Tornado Tower. Through this session, the Ministry seeks to enable competent authorities to produce accurate and documented statistics for the economic balance of payments, thereby enhancing transparency.

The course was presented by Mr. Hazem Salah, a certified trainer in the field. It aimed to provide a comprehensive understanding of basic balance of payments concepts, analyze its components, prepare relevant financial statistics, and draft periodic reports while interpreting the impact of the balance of payments on both the local and international economy.

During the sessions, Mr. Hazem Salah covered several key pillars, including the definition of the balance of payments and its importance in macroeconomic analysis, as well as an understanding of its main components: the current account, the capital account, and the financial account. The training also involved analyzing flows of goods and services, capital flows, and foreign direct investment, while interpreting data related to international trade and finance. Furthermore, participants were trained on gathering the financial and economic data required to prepare professional balance of payments reports.

Regarding its significance, Mr. Salah explained that the balance of payments serves as a vital indicator of economic health and contributes to monitoring monetary reserves. It also influences economic policies, facilitates interaction with international markets, and helps identify sources of deficit or surplus. Moreover, it plays a role in currency stability and serves as an analytical tool to understand the national economy's performance in its dealings with other countries, contributing to the planning of the state's external economic relations.

Regarding long-term capital flows, the trainer noted that these include direct and indirect investments (financial portfolios), as well as long-term loans, whether private, governmental, or international.

In this regard, Mr. Hamad Abdullah Obaidan, Director of the Human Resources Department at the Ministry, stated: "At the Ministry of Social Development and Family, we are keen to continuously increase the efficiency of our employees and develop their skills. This serves the Ministry's objectives, contributes to achieving the Qatar National Vision 2030, and benefits the community as a whole."
