Ministry of Social Development and Family Concludes Training Program to Prepare Persons with Disabilities for Labor Market Integration
The Ministry of Social Development and Family, represented by the Department of Community Care for Persons with Disabilities, has concluded a two-week vocational preparation program designed to support persons with disabilities in transitioning into the labor market. The program was implemented in collaboration with Qatar Center for Disability Development, the Institute of Public Administration, and the Civil Service and Government Development Bureau’s Kawader platform, and hosted at Education City.
The initiative aligns with the Ministry’s efforts to enhance the social and economic participation of persons with disabilities by equipping them with essential workplace skills and strengthening their readiness for employment.
Targeting youth aged 18 to 35 with mild intellectual disabilities, the program offered practical training tailored to modern labor market requirements, delivered in simplified Arabic with sign-language interpretation for participants with hearing impairments.
Thirteen trainees took part in the program following their selection through the national employment platform “Kawader”, based on predefined eligibility criteria. Over the course of two weeks, participants received training in core employability skills, including CV writing, job-application preparation, communication skills, workplace behavior, and confidence building. Each participant completed a personalized skills assessment and evaluation report to support their future employment pathway.
The Ministry affirmed that the program represents a key step in strengthening opportunities for individuals with disabilities, particularly those with mild intellectual disabilities or learning difficulties, by enabling them to acquire practical competencies that support their integration into the workforce. The initiative reflects strong coordination among the Ministry, Qatar Center for Disability Development, the Institute of Public Administration, and other national partners.
Reem Al-Hajri, Director of the Department of Community Care for Persons with Disabilities, stated that the successful completion of this training cohort marks “an important milestone toward empowering persons with disabilities to join the labor market and contribute actively to society,” noting that the Ministry will continue to expand programs that enhance their independence and participation.
Saad Abdullah Al-Khuraiji, Executive Director of Qatar Center for Professional Development, emphasized that the program represents a strategic component of the national vocational-development system, supporting the transition of youth with disabilities into real employment opportunities and aligning with the objectives of Qatar National Vision 2030.
Talib Al-Buainain, Director of Recruitment and Replacement at the Civil Service and Government Development Bureau, highlighted that the participation of trainees through the Kawader platform reflects the government’s commitment to equitable and transparent employment practices consistent with labor-market needs.
Officials from the Public Service and Government Development Bureau affirmed that the collaboration reflects a unified governmental effort to expand inclusive opportunities and ensure equal access to training and employment for all members of society.
The Ministry confirmed that the training program supports national efforts to build an inclusive, productive, and socially cohesive community, contributing to sustainable development and reinforcing the role of persons with disabilities as active participants in the economic and social fabric of the country.
