The Ministry of Social Development launches National Policy Program for Shelters and Social Labor Standards

The Ministry of Social Development and Family has launched the National Shelter Policies Program and the National Standards for Social Work to improve the quality of services provided to target groups, promoting human well-being, and helping to meet basic human needs. The launch of this Program coincides with the implementation phase of the project to build a supervision program in social work institutions in the Ministry, which was launched in cooperation with the Doha Institute for Graduate Studies to qualify target groups for the supervisory role of staff working in the social service field at their workplaces. During the training period, a training manual in supervision will be prepared to be used in the future to train specialists, assess the evaluation of the experience, and disseminate it to all social workers working in all sectors of the country. Also, it aimed to highlight the importance of “professional supervision” as an effective tool that contributes to raising the level of performance of social workers and ensuring that the minimum requirements for practicing the social service profession are met. For his part, Mr. Ghanem Salah Ghanem Al-Maadeed, Head of the Projects Committee at the Ministry of Social Development and Family, underlined that the Ministry pays attention to the development of human resources, by training and developing workers in the field of social service by preparing and providing them with new skills and capabilities. This is to help them carry out their tasks and responsibilities to the fullest and achieve the goals of the ministry. He highlighted the role of the Ministry in achieving the needs of social centers, by providing workers with the latest experiences, knowledge, and behaviors, pointing out that the Ministry provided mass services requiring the development of individuals to achieve strategic goals in this regard. In turn, Dr. Amal Ghazal, Dean of the College of Social and Human Sciences at Doha Institute, praised social work, which is considered one of the basic professions that seek to enhance the quality of human life and society and achieve social justice. She added that the supervision project will contribute to supporting the capabilities of social workers to ensure the maintenance of quality Social services in the State of Qatar and to maintain professional performance at the best level, through research-informed plans addressing the health and well-being of individuals and families. It is worth noting that the project will be implemented in three phases by assessing the needs of the concerned institutions for the existence of an internal supervision system by identifying the type of supervision provided in the institution, identifying areas for development in the supervision system in the concerned institution, and ways to o facilitate the supervision process systematically.
