
"Social Development" spreads awareness among productive entrepreneurs about intellectual property
In cooperation with the Ministry of Commerce and Industry, the Ministry of Social Development and Family, represented by the Department of Family Affairs, held a lecture entitled "Intellectual Property and Brand Preservation" for families who own productive projects, through Microsoft Teams.
This lecture was presented by Mrs. Noura Rashid Al-Marri, the second researcher for the trademark at the Ministry of Commerce and Industry. In her turn, she said that the lecture aims to achieve the ministry's vision towards directing the efforts of institutions concerned with women and the family economically for self-reliance and the development and implementation of projects. It also seeks to develop the owners of productive projects by becoming familiar with the laws that may relate to the rejection or acceptance of a trademark and educating them about how to submit a request to preserve the trademark, and what are the required fees. She added that it introduces the mechanism of the trademark examination process for project owners and explains the method of registering trademarks and the duration of their protection.
Furthermore, she discussed several topics during this lecture, including defining what a trademark is and what a trademark consists of, explaining the laws related to rejecting or accepting a trademark, and how to preserve a trademark by applying for that. Defining the fees required to preserve a trademark was also highlighted, in addition to the mechanism of the trademark examination process, the method of registering trademarks, and the duration of their protection.
