Social development ministry announces start of registration for heritage crafts preservation program

The Ministry of Social Development and Family has announced the start of registration for those wishing to participate in the program for preserving heritage crafts (Sadu), which will start on April 22 and run for two months.

Director of the Family Empowerment Department at the Ministry Fatima Al Nuaimi said that the program aims to train and transform the trainees from a consumers into professional craft owners, and to empower owners of productive projects by attracting and training new groups willing to learn the Sadu craft. At the end of the program, outstanding trainees will join designers from the Qatar Center for Innovation and Entrepreneurship in Design, Fashion, and Technology (M7), to craft pieces and designs such as jewelry, clothing, and abayas, or home furniture, she said adding that these designs will be displayed in Arab and regional exhibitions and in M7.
