“Social Development” marketing for national productive projects "From the Homeland" at Qatar University

Represented by the Department of Family Affairs, the Ministry of Social Development and Family participated in the National Productive Projects Exhibition “From the Homeland” held at Exhibition 33. It took place from February 11 to March 11, 2023, at Qatar University, opposite the metro station.

This participation does not only aim at promoting the products of national productive projects during the various events held in the country, yet it also empowers national productive projects economically, assisting the owners of national productive projects in developing their capabilities.

Moreover, it helps them marketing their products and increases their competitiveness to highlight the interest in handicrafts that achieve sustainable economic development for society and encourages local production and self-employment among Qatari families. These projects enhance the economic role of women and their contribution to production and to diversify the productive base, enriching the labor market and diversifying marketing fields.

This participation is based on the principle of cooperation and in the interest of the beneficiaries, through the support of national productive projects.

These national projects participating in exhibition 33 varied as follows: the participation of some projects specialized in selling various foods and hot and cold drinks to visitors, and body care and perfumes projects.

The Ministry has made great efforts to provide more marketing opportunities for national projects by participating in various exhibitions and events in the country throughout the year.

Regarding this participation, Mrs. Fatima Al-Nuaimi, Assistant Director of the Family Department, confirmed that the participation of productive projects “From the Homeland” is characterized by its products offering a variety of products. Its aim is to introduce Qatar University students and visitors to local products made with Qatari hands, indicating that Qatar University is one of the most important marketing windows for national productive projects.

She explained that these participations and events give the projects some opportunities to be displayed in front of the public, such textiles and Bashout knitting. It also enhances the economy by highlighting homemade projects and their production.

She added that national production projects participated last year and this year in more than one event in the country, the most important of which was hosting the FIFA World Cup Qatar 2022. These projects were held in stadiums, the village of Ain Muhammad in the north, Musheireb, the winter carnival in the old market in Al-Wakra, “Al Mazaen” Camel festivals in Lebsayer area in Al-Shahaniya. Also, the “Community Markets” projects were inaugurated in Canal Quartier on The Pearl Island on March 27, 2022.

It is worth noting that the Ministry of Social Development and Family recently signed a memorandum of understanding with Qatar University to enhance cooperation between them and benefit from the common capabilities of the two parties. This cooperation includes conducting research and studies to support the design, implementation and evaluation of policies and programs that contribute to the development of the social reality of the family in Qatar.
