"Social Development" hosts Dr. Ayoub Al-Ayoub as part of the "First-Year Marriage" Program

In cooperation with Wifaq Center and the Social Activities Support Fund, Ministry of Social Development and Family organized a workshop for Dr. Ayoub Al-Ayoub under the slogan "First Year of Marriage, First Aid". This was part of the activities of First-Year Marriage Program. This program is considered a comprehensive social movement that follows the slogan raised by the Ministry that "Qatar is strong with the cohesion of its families." This program works on all educational, practical, and training levels.

Dr. Al-Ayoub touched on several axes, the most important of which are the qualities that spouses must possess, especially during the first years of marriage. He discussed that it would dissolve problems from their inception. During the workshop, he also raised the mechanisms of dealing with marital disputes.

The Assistant Undersecretary for Family Affairs, Her Excellency Sheikha bint Jassim Al Thani, explained that the program includes some aspects as theoretical, educational, and awareness ones. in addition to training and practical packages. This aimed at strengthening the strength and solidity of the Qatari family and making the institution of marriage a success within the local community. This joint work between the state's private and governmental institutions enhances the social status of the state and raises family awareness among the youth.

Besides, she referred to raising awareness of the behaviors that spouses must adopt, such as managing financial affairs, mutual and continuous dialogue, crisis issues, managing psychological stress, and other keys that couples need, especially during the first years of marriage.

The Ministry launched its long-term and comprehensive national program "The First-Year Marriage" aiming to consolidate the family, reduce divorce rates in Qatari society, identify its causes, and treat the factors leading to it.

While supporting young families to lead a stable family life and to qualify new and soon-to-be-married couples, the program also supports young families to reach a stable and successful family life and to qualify new couples to overcome the obstacles of marital life. It emphasizes raising the state of societal awareness of the rights and duties of spouses within the framework of Islamic law, which calls for strengthening the bonds of partnership between spouses, affection, and mercy, in partnership with the Family Consultation (Wifaq) Center and the Fund for Supporting Social and Sports Activities.

The "First Year of Marriage" program includes four main axes: the educational awareness axis, the applied training axis, the counseling axis, and the creative axis responsible for attracting young people of both sexes to raise awareness about plans for success and safe passage from the first years of marriage. The program also invests in scientific research and field and survey research to study marriage and divorce issues in Qatari society in cooperation with the competent authorities. This is to understand the roots of the divorce issue and its factors, and then draw supportive policies to bring about societal change.

The program includes a digital platform that combines electronic content and practical training. It is also concerned with qualifying those about to get married and providing them with scientific content by experts and specialists. Young people are also given the knowledge, skills and values that enable them to establish stable and cohesive families, which will generally be reflected in reducing divorce rates. The program is based on the principles of Islamic Sharia and the Personal Status Law, to include 15 hours of training for the participants in the program.

In conclusion, Her Excellency Sheikha bint Jassim Al-Thani the Assistant Undersecretary for Family Affairs thanked Dr. Ayoub Al-Ayoub and the audience. Several crucial inquiries were raised, opinions and discussions were shared in a way that contributes to achieving the required objectives of the workshop.
