"Social Development" and Expo 2023 Doha participate in the activities of the Qatari Family Day

In cooperation with Expo 2023 Doha, Ministry of Social Development and Family celebrated Qatari Family Day. This event falls on the fifteenth of April. His Excellency Dr. Abdullah bin Abdulaziz bin Turki Al Subaie, Minister of Municipality and Planning Affairs, and Her Excellency Mrs. Maryam bint Ali bin Nasser Al Misnad, Minister of Social Development and Family participated in the breakfast with both families and elderlies in Expo 2023 park headquarters, this comes within the framework of Her Excellency's keenness on the participation of families on this occasion and an affirmation of the role of the family, as it is the essential pillar in the nucleus of society.

While this celebration aims to enhance awareness, the social cohesion of families, gratitude, loyalty, and the spirit of cooperation among its members, it also revives the authentic Qatari family values, emphasizing the family's rights and duties in strengthening its position in society. As a social institution, the family is considered the first building block of society, and therefore efforts are intensified to elevate it and develop its culture. As Islam defined its value, the family has a great position reflected in the interest in its affairs to perform its function to create a cohesive society that enjoys social care in a sustainable environment.

The celebration included several activities, such as school visits to girls' and boys' schools, and awareness-raising seminars on the value of tolerance and the importance of family bonding. To instill values in the family, we have cooperated with Expo 2023 to plant the bramble tree, which is famous for the Qatari environment.

Her Excellency Mrs. Maryam bint Ali bin Nasser Al-Misnad, the Minister of Social Development and Family, confirmed that the celebration of Family Day in Qatar is a significant occasion and a community initiative. "This is because when we talk about the family, we are talking about the building blocks of the society essentially, which many things in this society are built on, " she said. Her Excellency affirmed that the family is vital. If families are well-qualified and educated about their duties, society will be reformed, noting that it is the unit of society.

Her Excellency also said: "It is our pleasure to have the opportunity to celebrate Family Day in Qatar with the cooperation of the International Expo 2023. Thus, we endeavor to instill values in the family while we are participating today in planting the bramble tree, because of its cultural and social importance." She stated that Family Day in Qatar is a reminder that there are obligations toward the family and its members. Family is seen as a fruitful tree with authentic and fixed roots in its principles This makes it imperative for us to strengthen, empower, and enhance its stability. We are honored and pleased to be the first government agency to participate in the activities of Expo 2023 through our celebration of this occasion.

Her Excellency Sheikha bint Jassim Al-Thani, Assistant Undersecretary for Family Affairs, affirmed the Ministry's keenness to spread the idea of building happy, strong, and cohesive families in Qatar by reviving the entitlements of the system of societal values and traditions.

She added that these activities were in the form of lectures and awareness-raising workshops. Moreover, she stated that the great interest in the family comes from it being the basic building block in building society. While reaching this sustainable society, we have to understand that it is not limited to the efforts of its individuals but rather through the concerted efforts of all governmental and societal roles to support and care for them, protect their security, stability, and cohesion, and ensure the sustainability of their strength as the nucleus of a stable society and a country that enjoys a pace of economic growth and social construction, solid in the face of challenges.

Ms. Reem Al-Ajmi, Acting Director of the Community Care Department, said that the celebration of this day reflects the priority and importance that the government program attaches to the family and the role of social institutions in supporting and developing community building and growth under Qatar National Vision 2030 and the country's national development strategy.

The Ministry of Social Development launched several events on this occasion and delivered awareness lectures in schools and mosques, as well as entertainment activities focusing on enhancing feelings of intimacy and cohesion among members of the same family. It is keen on educating society about the importance of the family and activating its pioneering and leadership role in raising the younger generations.

She indicated that the Ministry's participation in this event comes within the framework of its continuous endeavors and efforts to promote social culture among members of society, especially school students, through proper upbringing. It is based on imparting to this segment the values and culture of society on an ongoing basis so that their personality is formed with it.

The participation of ministries and government agencies is considered support for EXPO is the first horticultural exhibition to be held in the State of Qatar. The participation of students in planting seedlings is seen as a conscious generation that is keen on the environment and seeks to increase the green cover in Qatar to achieve the desired common goals.

Regarding the cooperation between the Ministry of Social Development and Expo 2023 Doha, Haifa Al-Otaibi, Director of Events and Corporate Communications at Expo 2023 Doha, said: “First, I would like to express our sincere thanks to the Ministry of Social Development and the Family for being the first government agency to confirm for its participation in the activities of Expo 2023 Doha, by planting the first seedlings in the Expo area. Then Al-Otaibi added: “We were keen to organize this event in conjunction with the day of Qatari families to echo this annual social occasion that seeks to integrate all segments of society, including young people, the elderly, and people of determination.”

Doha Expo 2030 is being held under the slogan of a green desert, a better environment. She also stated that Qatar finds the magnitude of the great challenge and seeks to achieve it by changing the features of our desert region to become a greener region. This goal was not born now that there were well-thought-out strategies to reach this result.

With our participation in the Family Day event, we continue our challenges with our faith in the elderly roles who will achieve our future goals, as they enjoy giving and knowledge that will enrich the event. We affirm that Expo 2023 Doha will open its doors to all segments of society, and everyone has the right to participate.

The Ministry appreciated the efforts made to make the Horticultural Expo 2023 a success, as well as the initiatives, events, and programs emphasizing the importance of community communication between entities to adopt Qatar's vision 2030.
