Qatar participates in 3rd Arab Forum for Equality
The State of Qatar participated in the Third Arab Forum for Equality organised by the United Nations Economic and Social Commission for Western Asia (ESCWA) in Cairo.
The state was represented at the forum by HE the Assistant Undersecretary for Family Affairs at the Ministry of Social Development and Family Sheikha Sheikha bint Jassim Al-Thani.
The forum aimed to engage specialists, policymakers, decision-makers, and civil society organisations in the Arab region to find practical solutions to address aspects of inequality in times of crises. It sought to identify the links between inequality and multiple crises and to showcase best practices in this field. Additionally, the forum aimed to discuss recommendations made during the first and second forums (Amman 2022 - Beirut 2023) and to propose innovative and practical policy solutions that could mitigate forms of inequality during crises in the short, medium, and long term.

The State of Qatar, represented by the Ministry of Social Development and Family (MSDF), participated on Sunday in the opening video conference meeting of the 22nd session of the League of Arab States’ Committee of the Follow Up on Ending Violence Against Children. In her address, Assistant Director of the MSDF’s Family Development Department Nouf Ibrahim Al Abdullah outlined Qatar’s efforts to protect children and promote their rights. She stressed the importance of continued cooperation and coordination to provide a safe and supportive environment for children to grow and to protect them from all forms of violence.

The Ministry of Social Development and Family, in cooperation with the General Secretariat of the League of Arab States, held a workshop on ways to address the effects of violence against children via videoconference, with the participation of representatives of government entities responsible for child protection in Arab countries, alongside regional and international experts, specialists, and representatives of relevant organizations.
