MSDF opens registration for workshop presented by Dr. Russell Bursley within the “First Year of Marriage” program
The Ministry of Social Development and Family has opened registration for the “First Year of Marriage” program, which will be held from October 12 to 13 at Wifaq Family Consulting Center.
It is a pioneering family program in qualifying those going to get married and guiding new couples towards a stable and successful family life.
The program includes two lectures and one training workshop presented by Dr. Russell Bursley - a consultant in psychiatry from Kuwait.
She provides educational and training services with the aim of helping couples overcome challenges in their early years of marriage, and supporting marital culture as a cornerstone in the integrity and sustainability of the marital relationship.
The training course covers several topics, namely communication skills, conflict resolution, financial responsibility, emotional integration, and dealing with life changes and challenges such as how to manage time, set priorities, balance work and family life, how to adapt to major changes such as childbirth, and guidelines for maintaining a balanced marital relationship.
The program is distinguished by its adoption of the latest methods in educational design and the adoption of scientific foundations and guidelines specialized in psychological, family and social issues, commitment to the directives of Islamic law and starting from Arab culture and social and legal conditions.
It is reviewing most of the articles of personal status laws in Arab countries to be compatible with them.
The program is distinguished by combining scientific content and practical application through specialized practical standards. The program also starts from the provisions of the Family Law in Qatar.
The launch of the program comes from the Ministry’s keenness to support family cohesion and maintain its stability, considering that the family is the basic building block of society, through qualifying those about to get married and newlyweds, and building a strong and positive marital relationship.
The First Year of Marriage program targets a large segment of society, namely the youth segment, such as high school students, boys and girls, university and college students, young men and women who are about to get married, emerging families, newlyweds, and married people who want to improve their marital life.
Many awareness workshops and courses were implemented in cooperation with the Ministry of Sports and Youth by educating young people in the youth centers affiliated with the Ministry. Cooperation was also made with the Ministry of Interior to hold awareness workshops for students of the Police Academy and the Ministry of Defense.
This national project is implemented with the support of the strategic partner for social development, the Social and Sports Contribution Fund (DAAM), which is an important contribution to building safe and stable families and a cohesive society, which in turn supports efforts to achieve Qatar National Vision 2030 through cooperation and coordination between the concerned parties to implement targeted activities, plans and programs, to achieve common goals that benefit the family and society with growth and progress.
