MSDF Launches "Gharsa Program" to Promote Orphan Care and Community Solidarity

The Ministry of Social Development and Family, represented by the Family Protection Section of the Social Protection Department, is set to launch the "Gharsa Program" in collaboration with the Department of Da'wah and Religious Guidance at the Ministry of Endowments and Islamic Affairs. The inaugural event will take place on Sunday, February 8, 2026, at the Women’s Activity Building of the Department of Da'wah, from 4:00 PM to 6:00 PM.

This program is part of the Department's ongoing efforts to strengthen social protection concepts and enhance awareness of education and family. By addressing strategic topics, the initiative aims to root authentic community values and correct misconceptions regarding orphan care and foster parenting. The program will consist of a series of periodic meetings throughout the year, featuring a select group of prominent preachers and specialists.

On this occasion, Mr. Salem Dahbaj, Director of the Social Protection Department, stated: "The launch of the 'Gharsa Program' embodies our firm commitment to strengthening the pillars of social protection in the State. Through this fruitful cooperation with the Ministry of Endowments, we seek to build a deeper community awareness of the values of solidarity and foster care. These efforts ensure a stable and stimulating family environment for orphans, rooted in our Islamic values and national identity."

The program’s first session, titled "Lasting Impact and Elevated Care," will be presented by Ms. Rabab Hassan Basyouni. The session will cover several key themes, including the status of orphans in Islam and the spiritual virtues of caring for them. It will also explore various forms of orphan care and their profound psychological and social impacts on both the foster family and the child.

This initiative reflects the vital role of the Ministry of Social Development and Family in achieving the Social Development pillar of the Qatar National Vision 2030. Through such events, the Ministry reaffirms its dedication to investing in human capital and fostering a just and secure society based on practical ethics, ultimately enhancing the quality of life for all segments of society and ensuring sustainable social welfare for future generations.
