MSDF holds workshop under the campaign ‘Family is the Treasure of a Nation’
The Ministry of Social Development and Family, represented by the Family Development Department, organised an awareness workshop at Al-Quds Model School for Boys within the “Family is the Treasure of a Nation” campaign.
The workshop, presented by Dr. Abdulrahman Al Harmi, aimed to enhance students’ understanding of the importance of family cohesion, the value of compassion, and its impact on building strong family relationships.
A large number of students participated in the workshop, which witnessed great interaction by the participants.
Al Harmi began his talk with the students by asking them what is the most valuable thing in the State of Qatar, and the students began answering the question with a set of multiple answers close to the intended and correct answer.
He gave hint to lead them to the correct answer, saying: “You, the student, are the most valuable being on earth, and you must treat yourself as if you are precious to Allah the Almighty if you draw closer to Him through acts of obedience and good deeds, and you belong to a family, and this family is what society and the state are made of.”
He said that an educated student creates an educated and strong country. Al Harmi touched on the role of the individual in the family and the role of the student within his family and how he is able to make the family happier, more cohesive and more advanced through his excellence in education, obtaining certificates of appreciation and developing his skills that contribute to improving the quality of his life on the social and economic levels.
On the other hand, family cohesion plays a crucial role in the student’s life. A cohesive family provides a supportive environment that encourages the student to excel, commit to studying, and face the challenges that affect the student’s academic achievement.
Al Harmi discussed with the students the importance of respecting the teacher, which is considered one of the most important basic moral values in building successful societies.
He said that it establishes the foundation of the relationship between the student and the teacher.
Al Harami said that respecting the teacher enhances the value of discipline and leads to improving the quality of education and increasing the students’ concentration in lessons, as respect contributes to raising the teacher’s morale and directing the students towards success.
In conjunction with the workshop, there was an improved ‘Snakes and Ladders’ game that contained pictures and phrases that reinforced moral values and students’ interaction with the activity.
The students were introduced and discussed their understanding of the values present in the game and the importance of values that raise their owner to the top, such as respecting others and helping others, and the values in which the individual transcends others and Allah Almighty, and how they lower their owner from his position.
At the end of the workshop, gifts were presented to the students and commemorative photos were taken.
