Ministry of Social Development and Family Participates in the “36th Arab Federation for libraries and information (AFLI) conference”
The Ministry of Social Development and Family, represented by the Family Empowerment Department, took part in the 36th Arab Federation for libraries and information (AFLI) conference, held under the theme “Digital Justice and Arab Information Institutions: Enhancing Partnership, Sustainability, and Digital Transformation.” The conference was hosted from 23–24 November 2025.
The Ministry’s participation comes as part of its commitment to regional and international forums that highlight the role of institutions in empowering communities, developing skills, and implementing national strategies that support human and institutional development.
The conference witnessed broad participation from specialists, researchers, and representatives of Arab information institutions. Sessions explored key topics such as digital justice, requirements for digital transformation, sustainability of information projects across the region, and advancing data-driven development.
The Family Empowerment Department presented three distinctive projects that represent the most prominent efforts supporting productive families: the “Saaf” project, the “Sadu” project, and the “Niqda” project. These projects attracted the attention of the attendees for their embodiment of Qatari identity and for offering successful models of traditional and artisanal products that receive direct support from the ministry to enhance families’ capabilities and empower them economically and socially.
These initiatives reflect the Ministry’s dedication to promoting Qatari identity, as well as preserving and developing traditional craftsmanship. They also highlight the Ministry’s ongoing efforts to provide direct support to productive families, strengthen their economic contribution, and empower them socially and financially.
These projects are part of the ministry’s strategy to support home-based producers by opening new outlets for them at local and regional events. The initiative gives them broader exposure, helping them reach a wider audience, market their products more effectively, and showcase the traditional craftsmanship that represents an integral part of Qatar’s heritage.
This participation also underscores the importance of building effective partnerships between information institutions and social development entities to unify efforts and broaden their community impact.
During the opening ceremony, the Ministry of Social Development and Family was honored in recognition of its contribution to the conference through showcasing national projects and supporting productive families, as well as highlighting Qatari identity at this key regional event.
Mr. Ghanem Al-Dhiyab, representing the Family Empowerment Department, received the honorary shield on behalf of the ministry in the presence of senior officials, experts, and guests from across the Arab world.
The recognition reflects the organizers’ appreciation for the ministry’s efforts in promoting social and economic empowerment, as well as its role in advancing digital justice by supporting initiatives that enhance community capabilities and harness modern technology to improve development and empowerment mechanisms.
