The Ministry of Social Development and Family is initiating its National Programme for the Training and Accreditation of Trainers under the First-Year Marriage Programme

The Ministry of Social Development and Family, in collaboration with a panel of advisors, educators, and counselors from the Family Counseling Center and the National Project for Training and Rehabilitating Certified Trainers, endeavors to deliver the elements of the First Year of Marriage program. This initiative aims to enhance awareness among young individuals, particularly women, about the concept of a successful marriage and cohesive family, with the ultimate goal of reducing divorce rates. The program aims to equip trainers with essential skills to deliver specialized content, thereby enhancing their qualifications to implement the First Year of Marriage program. This initiative seeks to prepare individuals for marriage and foster strong, successful marital relationships while promoting core family value.

In the group training sessions, participants will learn about the key topics covered in the First Year of Marriage program. These include Family Values, Choosing the Right Partner, Building Strong Marital Relationships, Tackling Common Marriage Challenges, and Learning Practical Skills for Applying Program Standards.  Moreover, the course aims to deepen couples' understanding of each other during the initial phase of marriage and to equip them with the foundational principles and skills necessary for delivering the First Year of Marriage program to diverse target audiences. Additionally, participants will gain insights into the principles, developments, and challenges of family guidance and counseling in the context of contemporary educational and social landscapes, along with strategies for effectively addressing them.

The course targets legal, family, counselling and family training professionals, counsellors, psychologists and social workers, as well as educators working in institutions providing social, psychological or legal support to spouses and trainers in educational, psychological and social work.

In the course, accredited trainers review effective approaches and strategies for addressing common challenges encountered by couples during the first year of marriage. The program provides a comprehensive set of knowledge, skills, scientific principles, and practical experiences. The courses cover various themes, including the Basic Group Training Program, Training of Trainers in Marriage Training Tools, and the scientific content of the "First Year of Marriage" program bag. Additionally, the course serves as an introduction to supportive science in family counseling, covering topics such as legal provisions, personal status law, customs, personality patterns, effective communication skills, and basic issues in education and psychology.

The course features Dr. Issa Al-Hirr, who emphasizes that this program underscores a dedication to enhancing marital relationships and assisting society in fostering resilient families. The course aims to graduate 40 family advisors accredited by the Ministry and to solidify perspectives and understanding on guidance and family matters. Additionally, it aims to facilitate the creation of memoirs and research development and the issuance of an ethical charter known as the Training and Family Consultation Protocol.

He praised the first-year marriage program, saying it's a good start for future projects to help newlyweds.

The Ministry of Social Development and Family sees marriage and family as big life decisions. Following the Qatar National Vision 2030, which values strong families, the Ministry wants to raise awareness about this.

They started a project called "First Year of Marriage" to teach couples about family values and how to communicate better. The goal is to help couples get ready for marriage by giving them useful knowledge and skills. This project also aims to support couples in dealing with life's challenges.
