
Ministry of Social Development and Family achievements in 2022
The Ministry of Social Development and Family continued the course of its achievements in response to the aspiration of the State of Qatar in inclusive development contributing to the building of the country and achieving the National Vision 2030 undertaken by the Ministry.
The Ministry was able to achieve more successes and good results at all levels related to development and upgrading, as well as what it plans at the level of future programs and projects keeping pace with the strategic plan for the social development sector.
The Ministry has devoted its efforts to preserving the national identity by supporting and enhancing the identity through workshops and lectures and celebrations of National Day. It also coincided with the country's hosting of the Qatar World Cup 2022. Families face many transformations and challenges resulting from the influx of fans from all over the world and the multiplicity of cultures, customs, and traditions. Furthermore, it meets the technological development in which the world has become a village devoid of geographical borders.
Several policies and strategies have been developed to address these challenges, including the national initiative to enhance family stability for the advancement of the individual and society socially, economically, and culturally, in addition to activating national and international partnerships related to the family and encouraging social studies. This is to formulate a strategy that will help the family to play its growing role and to preserve its cohesion and stability.
At the beginning of the year 2020, the Ministry announced the support and honoring of associations with distinguished contributions, encouraging them to continue such qualitative ideas and initiatives that enrich social work in the country and serve all segments of society in Qatar, such as honoring the "Qatar Celiac Awareness Society" for its initiative "launching the Celiac Awareness Day in Qatar" which aims to raise awareness of the celiac disease (wheat allergy) among the community and its members and to provide permanent moral support for patients and their families who need it. The "Qatar Society of Engineers" was also honored for its "My Contracts" initiative, and the Qatar Nursing Society for its "Healthy and Safe Workers" initiative.
The Ministry also contributed to providing social security benefits to about 14,000 beneficiary families, including the elderly, people with disabilities, women, poor families, orphans, and prisoners’ families, extending social security cards without the need for the beneficiaries to review the concerned authority, and providing housing services to support the institution of marriage.
In the first quarter of the year 2022, the rights of women and girls and human rights in Afghanistan were discussed, during the meeting of the Minister, Mrs. Maryam bint Nasser bin Ali Al-Misnad, with Her Excellency Mrs. Rina Amiri, the US Special Envoy. During the meeting, the possibility of supporting initiatives to empower Afghan women and benefit from experiences was discussed. country at the local and international levels.
Women's issues were discussed in the People's Democratic Republic of Algeria, where the meeting discussed aspects of cooperation in areas related to social and family affairs and ways to enhance and develop them with His Excellency Kawthar Kreiko, Minister of National Solidarity and Family and Family Issues. Family Counseling "Wifaq" and the Center for Protection and Social Rehabilitation "Aman" to brief her Excellency on the Qatari experience in social work.
Her Excellency also headed the delegation of Qatar to the first ministerial round table meeting of the 66th session of the Committee on the Status of Women of the Economic and Social Council of the United Nations, at the United Nations headquarters in New York. This is to review the ministry's role, programs, and policies related to the advancement of women in various fields, as well as strengthen its role in achieving climate goals with policies to encourage women's participation and access to economic, educational, and political opportunities.
In its turn, the Ministry strengthened relations with its Rwandan counterpart at the meeting of the Group of Friends of Gender Parity in the United Nations. It was with the participation of the Secretary-General of the United Nations to discuss issues of common interest, ways to promote social and economic development, in line with the goals of sustainable development, and the challenges facing women and the policies that lead it to overcome related challenges.
It also stresses the prestigious position occupied by Qatari women in various fields and the country's global initiatives. The Arab Council for Social Responsibility, in partnership with the League of Arab States, awarded Her Excellency Mrs. Maryam bint Ali bin Nasser Al-Misnad, Minister of Social Development and the Family, the Arab Woman Award for Social Responsibility. This was during the Arab Women’s Conference for Social Responsibility in its fourth edition, held in Cairo under the title “Creativity and Innovation.” Development between leadership and digitization.
Her Excellency, the Minister, received this honor thanks to her active role in the field of inclusive development and the promotion of community building, as well as the empowerment of people with disabilities and the contribution to raising awareness and strengthening the protection of the rights of these groups.
During this year, community markets were launched in cooperation with the United Development Company, and 28 Qatari families, owners of national productive projects, were granted shops in a distinguished location in Qanat Karate on The Pearl Island as support from the Ministry for their contribution to strengthening the local economy.
Among the contributions and achievements that took place during this year was the opening of the second annual exhibition of private associations and institutions in 2022, with the participation of 20 parties, at the Public Foundation for the Cultural Village, Katara, under the slogan of My Association in Community Service. In the second quarter of 2022, the Ministry launched the "Let's Walk a Million Steps Closer" initiative, which aims to enhance interdependence by practicing walking with the family during the month of Ramadan.
The official website of the Ministry has also been launched, which allows citizens to complete all electronic transactions and services, which guarantees the right to use it for all segments of society, including the deaf, dumb, and people with disabilities, for families through the Sahalat platform, which includes social security services, citizen housing, citizen initiatives, and recommendations, in addition to more than 40 services. Others upgrade and develop services provided to the public and raise the level of efficiency in providing government services, allowing them to obtain them from one place and in a short time.
The Ministry participated in the Conference of the States Parties to the Convention on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities, which was held at the United Nations Headquarters in New York City, in the United States of America, in the 15th session of the Conference. During the conference, it was announced that Qatar, represented by the Ministry of Social Development and Family, is ready to host the Fourth World Disability Summit in 2028 in cooperation with the General Secretariat of the League of Arab States, to promote the rights of persons with disabilities locally, regionally, and globally.
The Ministry adopted the first unified Arab classification for people with disabilities in the world, after the second workshop on the Arab classification of disability, as the Ministry strived to ensure the appointment of people with disabilities in government jobs easily and effortlessly through cooperation with the National Human Resources Department at the Service Bureau. Civil and Governmental Development "Professional Day for the Employment of Persons with Disabilities".
In addition, the Ministry witnessed the launching ceremony of the "Women in Conflict Areas" initiative launched by the Qatar Fund for Development and hosted by the country's permanent delegation to the United Nations, on the sidelines of the 77th session of the United Nations General Assembly in New York.
One of the most important events that the Ministry witnessed in 2022 was obtaining the ISO certificate that was granted to the Ministry by the international organization, which is granted by the International Organization for Standards ISO, after applying the latest international standards in the field of management, information security, and risk assessment.
The Ministry declared the "Arabic Language Association" to officially become one of the cultural associations in the State of Qatar, to consolidate the status of the Arabic language in society, spread awareness of its importance, and create and implement initiatives and activities that contribute to its dissemination.
The "Muzn lounge" was established at Hamad International Airport in cooperation with Shafallah Center, as it was equipped with the latest technology and educational and rehabilitation equipment aimed at providing the best travel experience, they deserve while they are in Qatar.
The "Now is our turn, now is our time" initiative was launched to coincide with the launch of the World Cup in Qatar, to spread the customs and traditions of Qatari society that stem from the Islamic religion.
The Ministry launched the "National Policies for Shelter and National Standards for Social Work" program to qualify the staff of specialists working in their workplaces to help meet basic humanitarian needs.
The Ministry officially sponsors the "Qatar Available to All" platform, which provides people with disabilities with immediate information about the services available to them, depending on the location or service, through the website or mobile application, in cooperation with the "Sasol" company.
The Ministry, headed by HE the Minister of the State of Qatar's delegation, participated in the Asian Family Conference 2022, which was held in the Republic of Singapore, under the title "Empowering Asian Families: Embracing Challenges and Building a Better Future."
Her Excellency called on policymakers to support the State of Qatar's initiative calling for finding a mechanism that would help in more complementary cooperation to address campaigns to weaken the concept and practice of the family, as a guarantee for the sustainability of human development, based on the common values and principles that link the countries of Asia with the Arab and Islamic worlds.
In the Ministry's keenness to integrate people with disabilities, highlight their skills and encourage creativity, Qatar, represented by the Ministry of Social Development and Family, won 3 awards at the Sixth Gulf Theater Festival for People with Disabilities in Riyadh.
In the last quarter of this year, the activities associated with the World Cup were launched through the participation of national productive projects "From the Homeland". The efficiency of families, raising their productivity and developing their skills.
The number of projects has reached 129 projects, including an exhibition from Al-Watan on the Wadi Musheireb Railway, and a show in stadiums such as Al-Bayt Stadium, Darb Al-Saai, the Equestrian Club, the Ain Muhammad archaeological area in the north, the Drisha Festival in the Oxygen Park, Beit Al-Khater in the Education City, and participation with the Nama Center in the Nama Gallery exhibition In Musheireb, the winter festival in Al-Wakra market, the celebration of the National Day with Qatar Airways, the camel festival in the Lebsayer area in Al-Shahaniya, the Al-Shaqab tours event in the Al-Shaqab Equestrian Academy, the Arab cultural tents event in the Pearl Karate channel, and finally the filming of outstanding students in the Bait Sharq restaurant.
170 families who own national productive projects "from the homeland" have been rehabilitated for the year 2023.
