The Minister of Social Development in a dialogue with the United Nations: "61% of Qatari women work in the government sector, and we have come a long way in achieving gender equality"
Her Excellency Mrs. Maryam bint Ali bin Nasser Al-Misnad, Minister of Social Development and Family, said that Qatar has made great strides in achieving gender equality, noting that about 61 percent of women work in the government sector.
In an interview with the official website of the United Nations News on the sidelines of her participation in the activities of the sixty-first session chaired by Qatar, Al-Misnad explained that the percentage of higher education among Qatari women has reached approximately 71 percent, which is a very high percentage.
Moreover, she affirmed that "Both Qatari and Arab women are following the right path. There are also many achievements that I hope they will follow," adding: I am confident that they will continue to do so, God willing.
In response to a question about Qatar's ability to achieve the goals of sustainable development by 2030, as one of the main issues during this 61st session of the United Nations, Her Excellency said: We are proud that my country has gone far beyond many of the issues being discussed today at the United Nations. I believe that we have reached a stage in which we present a lot of experiences and lessons learned too many developing countries. We therefore can reach these goals, and we even aspire to achieve more than that, God willing.
In her speech, the Minister said, "Concerning people with disabilities, Qatar is ready and has announced this previously to host the World Disability Summit in 2028. The Unified Arab Classification of Disability was also adopted, which is the first Arab classification of its kind in the region and the world. We are proud of this success; we hope to complete this success with other successes in many areas."
