
The "From the Homeland" initiative is launched to establish a culture of sustainability and production

Museums Board of Trustees, and Her Excellency Maryam bint Ali bin Nasser Al-Misnad, Minister of Social Development and Family, inaugurated today the “From the Homeland” initiative, at Wadi Musheireb Railway and M7 building in the heart of the Musheireb area.
This initiative, which emerged from the home, aims to provide a diversified production to establish a culture of sustainability, transform individuals from consumption to production, as well as develop a system of productive families within the State of Qatar, enhancing the efficiency of families, raising their productivity, and developing their skills. This also comes by providing integrated services starting from the process of producing ideas to facilitating access to markets, in addition to changing the negative stereotype attached to productive families by launching this initiative under a new name and an attractive visual identity.
In that connection, production is divided into food products, textiles, and crafts. This initiative has changed the name from "productive families" to a new name that keeps pace with the recent development and progress of the domestic market.
This initiative was launched at the first points of sale that were launched in conjunction with
the upcoming FIFA World Cup Qatar 2022 tournament, through today’s exhibition. It also focuses on highlighting the aesthetics of the Qatari product and presenting it in a contemporary style, as it contributes to strengthening the Qatari identity and introducing the current generation to the heritage of crafts. Handmade as well as its development by integrating traditional designs from handicrafts and presenting them in a modern and contemporary way presented by a constellation of Qatari artists and designers in several artistic fields covering designs, fashion, jewelry, antiques, and accessories, in addition to Sadu textiles with a review of valuable artworks.
Many designers and designers from Qatar are involved in various art projects, bringing their number to 53 projects. This is aimed at promoting and encouraging small and microentrepreneurs to start this activity. The exhibition also includes other induction workshops that follow the system of direct education of Sadu, Arabic Calligraphy, and Beads, as well as pottery.
Her Excellency, the Minister of Social Development and the Family, said: "The Ministry, Represented by the Department of Family Affairs, encourages and supports innovative and creative Qatari youth in all areas. The event takes place in the context of ensuring the realization of the Ministry's vision to guide the efforts of women and family institutions economically and encourages them to become self-reliant, develop and implement projects to support and develop productive families through training and the provision of auxiliary services, as well as to provide areas for marketing their products."
Her Excellency, Maryam bint Ali bin Nasser Al-Misnad, considered this important initiative as one of the strategies of the Ministry of Social Development and the Family, which is concerned with protecting some families that produce many handicrafts and local products, pointing out that the success of these projects pushes young entrepreneurs and families to be engaged in them and search for Pioneering ideas to develop them. Moreover, it considers the Ministry’s participation in various activities during the FIFA World Cup Qatar 2022 tournament as a great opportunity for families to present their home projects to a large segment of cultures, and to introduce guests to the most important products that express the identity of the initiative.
Furthermore, it extends to many participants throughout the country, which aims to identify and present traditional identity to visitors and members of society during the World Cup period, and how to increase the percentage of sales. Its launch coincides with World Entrepreneurship Week, which is celebrated from 13 to 19 November annually.
In this context, the Ministry of Social Development and Family highlighted the crucial roles that young entrepreneurs can play in the development process, as well as the great benefits of investing in such youth initiatives to achieve sustainable development. It also aims to stimulate Qatari youth to innovate, develop their creative capacities and enable them to realize Qatar's National Vision 2030.
Not only that, but the ministry seeks to unify joint efforts to enhance awareness and knowledge of the various members of society, and work to combine those efforts to attract them to participate in such initiatives. These initiatives are considered a cultural platform that seeks to enhance the interaction of youth energies, as well as raise the level of awareness of social issues. Thus, they contribute to reviving the authentic Qatari heritage through handicrafts and plastic arts, especially since this exhibition coincides with Qatar’s hosting of the World Cup, and many fans flocked to discover and learn about Qatari folklore.
The Center for Social Development "Nama", under the umbrella of the Qatar Foundation for Social Work, is affiliated with the Ministry of Social Development and the Family, and participated in the "From the Homeland" initiative by organizing this exhibition in cooperation with the Qatar Creative Center for Innovation and Entrepreneurship in the field of fashion and design M7. It was established by Qatar Museums, under the supervision of Her Excellency Sheikha Al Mayassa bint Hamad bin Khalifa Al Thani. The exhibition "From the Homeland" began today to receive visitors in a traditional atmosphere colored by modernity in Hall M7 in the heart of Doha, Musheireb area.
The exhibition is also committed to accelerating the growth of Qatar's creative economy by providing guidance and opportunities for designers to build successful businesses both locally and internationally. It also helps the fashion and design industry to play its part in the growth of Qatar's creative circular economy, while its platforms include comprehensive development and mentorship programs, world-class exhibitions and events, and public panel discussions.
The exhibition is in the center of Musheireb, the heart of Doha, which creates a space for creators by working closely with the Centre's resident partners: Cutting Studio, Studio 7, Scale 7, Fromm AM, Workinton, and Profiles.
It is worth mentioning that the Seaside Group is the main supporter of this initiative and it is one of the largest economic conglomerates in the State of Qatar. In turn, it seeks to support young people's talents in all fields of education, culture, sports, and the environment through community partnership, believing in the social responsibility to launch and develop creative possibilities for the future and benefit the country.
