Home-Grown Projects Take Center Stage at Al-Baraha Event

The Ministry of Social Development and Family (MSDF), represented by the Family Empowerment Department, partnered with the Ministry of Culture to showcase Home-Grown productive projects at the recent Al-Baraha Event. Held at various locations, Tawasul Heritage Park in Al Khor, from February 13-15, the event highlighted the diversity and creativity of Qatari entrepreneurs.

Participating projects spanned a range of categories, including heritage crafts like Sadu weaving, and printing various forms of art such as fabric and cup painting, textiles, hospitality services, perfumes, coffee, and a wide array of food offerings, from traditional Qatari dishes to ice cream, sweets, and souvenirs.

Sharbt7seeno_, a children's games and gifts project featured at Tawasul Heritage Park, shared its story. The owner explained that her project, which began in 2018, offers nostalgic games, sweets, and drinks, aiming to introduce younger generations to the pastimes of the 1960s and 70s. She credited her 2019 participation in Darb Al Saai as a turning point for her business. "Carefully study the market and strive for creativity to ensure success," the owner highlighted.

Sadika Ibrahim, owner of the “Albanafseg.qa” perfume project, also at Al-Tawasul Heritage Park, described her journey. Specializing in incense, perfumes, and sprays, she began her project in 2021. Ibrahim, who honed her natural talent for blending scents through accredited courses, expressed gratitude to MSDF for facilitating opportunities to participate in exhibitions and events. Her advice: "Be determined, plan carefully, and develop your project, no matter how small the beginning. Don't fear failure and always be honest with your customers."

Fatima Mohammed Al-Naimi, Director of the Family Empowerment Department at MSDF, emphasized the Ministry's commitment to supporting Home-Grown projects in line with Qatar National Vision 2030. This support includes marketing products in strategic locations, festivals, events, and exhibitions providing training and business development services. Al-Naimi noted the popularity of these products, citing their high quality and reasonable prices.
