Highlighting "Family is The Treasure of a Nation", "Social Development" plans to launch the Family Charter
The Ministry of Social Development and Family intends to launch the Family Charter as a crucial step towards strengthening family values and enhancing the role of the family in building a sustainable society for the nation under the slogan: Family is The Treasure of a Nation. This slogan indicates that the family is a basic unit in the societies and a source of values and education.
The Qatari Family Charter represents the legal framework that governs family relations in the State of Qatar. This Charter focuses on the rights and duties of individuals and seeks to achieve justice in these relationships, as it includes many aspects: the financial and economic rights of individuals and the educational and health rights. It also seeks to preserve the rights of children and women and the values of justice and mutual respect within the family.
The Family Charter is considered a family constitution and a document that defines the values and principles that govern the family’s relationships and interactions in society. It is also classified as a formal agreement between family members to manage expectations and define the decision-making process and responsibilities within the family.
It is worth noting that this Charter is the first of its kind in the Middle East and North Africa region, as it is the first Charter that specializes in family rights. This step would place the State of Qatar at the forefront of countries interested in initiatives that enhance the international and national standing of the State of Qatar.
The Gulf states and the Arab and international community may also be invited later to join this Charter led by the State of Qatar at the family level and its relationship with society and its security. This Charter will be the most important document for the local community, guided by principles and ideals that illuminate the path toward achieving family cohesion and continuing social development.
The Gulf states, the Arab world, and the international community might join this charter, which is being spearheaded by the State of Qatar concerning family dynamics, ties to society, and security. When it comes to guiding the local community toward values and concepts that show the way toward establishing family cohesiveness and ongoing social progress, this Charter will be the most significant document.
The inauguration will witness awareness-raising workshops to introduce the charter, its importance, and the most important principles it contains, such as family cohesion, social cohesion, and strengthening the religious and value motives of individuals. This pledge reflects the commitment of children, parents, and all family members to what is stipulated in the charter, as follows: “I pledge to maintain a strong, cohesive family, committed to religious and moral values and the Arabic language, and to raise children to love the homeland and serve society, so that they become contributors to its renaissance and progress, preserving its unity and guaranteeing it.”
Her Excellency Maryam bint Ali bin Nasser Al Misnad, the Minister of Social Development and Family, stressed the importance of signing this agreement, as it is considered a decisive step towards strengthening family ties and achieving sustainable development through citizen interaction and instilling religious and moral values in them. The Charter focuses on a group of principles that regulate family relations and protect the rights of individuals. Signing the Charter represents a vital matter for enhancing awareness of the importance of maintaining its stability and strengthening its roles.
Her Excellency added that the Charter will guarantee for every family member the right to language and identity, the family’s duty towards society, the roles of children and parents, the right to national education, the right to protect childhood and motherhood, the right to human development, the right to expression and dialogue, the right to parental care, and the value and moral heritage. Religious, mutual respect, and the duty to serve society and the nation. Her Excellency urged everyone to actively participate in signing this Charter to build a society based on religious and moral values.
