MSDF’s ‘Summer 2024’ programme develops girls’ creativity

The Ministry of Social Development and Family (MSDF), represented by the Family Empowerment Department, in cooperation with the Ministry of Sports and Youth, held 16 training workshops within its ‘Summer 2024’ programme.
The programme is slated to be held from July 1 to 31 in the girls’ centers affiliated with the Ministry of Sports and Youth.
The workshops aim at spreading the culture of recycling for sustainability, honing talents of youngsters, promoting concepts of handwork among girls, and utilising their summer vacation in useful things.
The training workshops were presented by a group of female trainers of the Ministry including social programmes expert Khadija Ali Al Maliki, productive families training expert Moza Jassim Al Mansouri and senior training specialist Laila Ahmed Al Hammadi.
The workshops covered many topics such as making customised perfumes, wooden huts, dying crochet picture frames, making handbags from fabric using the art of shack decoration, decorating pottery, blending cheeses, making beaded bracelets cup base and home decorative objects.
As many as 16 training workshops were held at the Doha Girls Center, Al Dana Girls Center, Al Khor Girls Center, Dhakhira Girls Forum Center, and Al Wakra Girls Center.
A total of 300 students benefited from the workshop, where they learned new crafts and skills with fun.
The girls interacted with trainers during workshops where they asked different questions showing their interests in the training. 
Sheikha Al Sulaiti, one of the participants in the workshop on making wooden huts at Al Wakra Girls Center, said: “In this workshop I learned how to make a wooden hut by recycling pieces of wood and cardboard boxes. The presentation was clear and useful during the workshop.”
Regarding the “Make Your Own Perfume” workshop, the trainer, Khadija Ali Al Maliki, a social programmes expert at the Ministry, said: “This workshop includes different methods for designing and creating perfumes, learning about modern techniques in creating perfumes, and stages followed from the beginning of designing the scent idea to the creating and packaging stage.”
She added: “At the end of the workshop, the participants get a clear idea for creating perfumes.”
Regarding this cooperation, Director of the Family Empowerment Department at MSDF Fatima Mohammed Al Nuaimi said: “We are happy with this fruitful cooperation with the Ministry of Sports and Youth, for honing and developing young people’s talents, and providing them with new skills, crafts, and experiences that will benefit them.”
